I plan on sending out 7 different cards to CHW OF Manny Ramirez.Im hopeing he'll sign at least one. I know he's a really rare get, but he is my alltime favorite player and Im willing to try anything. Just debateing if I should go through with it cause I dont wanna waste stamps. What are your thoughts?

Re: Manny Ramirez
In my opinion sending out to Manny and getting a autograph is very rare. Well I have never seen a TTM success with him so I would like to wish you the best of luck.
Re: Manny Ramirez
If you are going to take a chance on someone who is tough to get, just send one card. One of the rules of thumb of the hobby is to only send what you can afford to lose (or easily replace). Sending 7 cards at one time to anyone is a bit excessive anyway, and if the guy is tough to get I personally believe it would actually lessen your chances of a success. Also, I'd wait until spring training before sending. It might not get to him in time if you send now.
The most I've ever sent at one time was three, and that was because I did my research and found out he would sign that many. Most of the time I only send one or two cards per request.

Re: Manny Ramirez
I ment Im going to send 7 cards in 7 different envelopes cause ive heard in cases that someone would send two items in defferent envelopes and only recieve one back. So im hopeing that this will increase my chances. I have like a billion cards so I can afford to lose some,
And I think I will wait till Spring Training now that you mention it. Thanks packrat.

Besides, Manny is in his final few days as a Dodger, so you'll need to wait to see if anyone signs him.
Re: Manny Ramirez
I just looked him up. He hasn't been signing consistenly since 2001 and there were rumors back then that his cards were ghost-signed. Since that year there has only been one reported success -- from 2008.
Sending 7 different requests all at once might also backfire. It would be better to space them out over the course of the season. Don't worry about others telling you he's impossible. If you really want him and can afford to take the chances, then go for it. But just not all at once.
I think you might be hearing about guys like Mariano Rivera. I've heard of people sending him two requests at one time. It's called something like the "Mariano Rivera Lottery." Since he gets bombarded with mail and does answer some of them, sometimes people will send two requests to him at one time hoping to get lucky enough to get one request answered. It doesn't neccessarily apply to guys like Man-Ram though.

Re: Manny Ramirez
It would probably be better to wait until next season and try him at Spring Training.

Over 9,000 requests sent since 1986.

???????????????????????????? He's been on the White Sox for quite some time now.arrowsup wrote:Besides, Manny is in his final few days as a Dodger, so you'll need to wait to see if anyone signs him.
As for sending to Manny; don't even waste your time. Manny is Manny, and that is bad for autograph collectors. He is terrible In person, so he won't be any better TTM. The guy couldn't care any less about his fans or his image, and when that happens the person is usually not obtainable TTM.
I have his home address (as do tons of other collectors) and there's never even been a success from there either. My honest opinion is for you to buy a certified item or an autographed insert card. Sadly that's about the only way you are going to get him. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm a Dodger fan...I need him on a bunch of stuff too, I'm just trying to spare you some dissapointment and save your time/$$$.
