I am not arguing over that. But I think that responding to a dealer from USA at the expense of a real, devoted fan from let's say Hungary is REALLY unfair.dobie516 wrote:I'm sure he's swamped with mail and doing the best that he can. We've all seen the successes on here, so he is signing. Imagine all the mail that he's getting from people that aren't members of fanmail. Like any star he has no obligation to sign for any of us.

Re: Daniel Radcliffe via Equus "non SASE" requests
You're totally right ! I wrote to him sending a SAE and an IRC as I am from France because I love this actor since the first HP movie. And I didn't get anything back because I couldn't get stamps from US at this time. Now I'm trading clippings to get some of them, but I already sent request to people with an IRC and I didn't get nothing back although people who sent with a stamp got something, and I believe some of them were not fan as I am...Reav wrote:I am not arguing over that. Anyways, I hope we will all finish to get something, and good luck to Dan to manage his mail

Wrong. It is no one's job/duty except if Dan/his personal team to do it. As I've said before, the Broadhurst is one of the most cramped on Broadway (usually the actors share small small dressing rooms) backstage.Sammya wrote:I think it IS in fact a problem for Dan to go and buy stampsseamus wrote:it is sooooo big problem for Dan to take the envelopes and walk into the postoffices?.... But that doesn't mean there can't be someone else to do this job in the theatre....
We're lucky most stage managers even do cast-signed playbills, let alone go and have pictures signed by people/etc.; that's not their job. Their job is to set up for a performance, make sure everyone is there and to fit everything into place for a performance: not to do fanmail. And I'm sure they also have lives and families and other things they like to do.
So unfortunately, unless Dan has a PA or someone else that he assigns to get stamps, it doesn't matter.
And I'm sorry I didn't give the sugar-coated answer, but I'm guessing he won't do anything. Look at the other successes: almost everyone sent something anyway (pictures/covers/etc.), but I'm of course not 100% sure on this.
So again: it's up to Dan; no one in the theatre/associated with the Equus revival. And I've had plenty of stamps/IRCs/money go to waste on autographs too. It's awful, trust me I know I've been there, but it's one of the risks you have to take with this hobby. And we don't know, he very well could be bringing it back to England when he has more time and is just sitting around as opposed to probably exploring NYC (somewhat)! Don't get impatient with everyone else's successes,...yours may just becoming later.
And can I also say that the whole "Dealer from the US" and "Hungarian Fan" arguement hardly makes sense...do you think we should put a special code on our letters so they know? I highly doubt that these "dealers from the US" are putting "I'm an autograph dealer. I would love to have your autograph to sell. Thanks" because I'm sure they're similar to the letters you wrote!
WONDERLAND:Alice's New Musical Adventure enjoyed a short, but sweet run on Broadway in Spring of 2011!

It appears you misunderstood me. There is no argument at all. I was simply saying it is not fair since the as*holes at USPS decided not to sell their f*cking good-for-nothing stamps outside US. If there is one thing I really hate, it's US-centrism (another example are sellers on eBay sending only to US even when you offer them twice as much money).TheScarletPimpernel wrote:And can I also say that the whole "Dealer from the US" and "Hungarian Fan" arguement hardly makes sense...do you think we should put a special code on our letters so they know? To sum up, I didn't want to start any arguments whether Dan "is obliged" to sign or anything else. I'm just sad over the fact that some dealer got the signed pictures and made profit while I, who values Dan's work, did not.

Yeah, we all know there's nothing worse than US centrism, unless it's philatelic US centrism. D*mn those isolationist postal workers, anyway.Reav wrote: It appears you misunderstood me. Re: Daniel Radcliffe via Equus "non SASE" requests
I'm from Australia. I sent him 2 photos, a SAE and 2 IRCs to the Equus address in eary december and I still havn't got anything back. I've seen successes from people who have written to him after I have, but they get a reply because they sent a SASE.
I'm going to write to him again, but this time I'm going to send a pre-paid envelope instead of a SAE and IRC. Hopefully he'll reply that one.
I agree, we should be able to get US stamps from other countries. Like you I'm going to trade some of my autographs for US and UK stamps.

Re: Daniel Radcliffe via Equus "non SASE" requests
Im from Australia as well and getting US stamps is near impossible so ihad no choice but to send an IRC. I sent back in early November and i have heard nothing back . . . yet. I am hoping that Dan is just sending back the SASE ones first and putting aside the requests that used IRC's. Maybe after Equus is over he might get his PA to send them all back at once. I know its a long shot but hey if i havent heard anything by April i know im not getting anything back
