Colour me jealous! Those are beautiful. Wondering how I can get my Doctor Who ones to look so good... a frame a season perhaps! lol

It really depends on how many cast changes (besides the Dr) their were. I like to get as many of the recurring (or semi-) characters. Which on a show like Lost and BSG (new) were hard because every season they would add people. So I would have to redo the matte every year or two. An example is the new BSG matte from the first page. I am going to be redoing it as soon as I get the new auto cards coming out next month.

With the autos. You can go one of two ways. Make the outer cards like I did and matte the autos behind them (if you have them). And/or take the cards and send them to the actors to sign. I have done that on a bunch of the mattes. I matte the cards with the old autos and I also send a copy of the card to the actor.

With the new Doctor Who series (the ones I collect) there arent that many, really. However I also collect guest stars who may only have been in one episode. Even if I did one frame per season, I'd never really know how many I'd have to be able to make the matte. I'd also need to switch to smaller index cards (I currently use 6x4 and these would take up too much room) but it's certainly something to this about for the future
