KEEPING MY ON BALL AUTO's SAFE & CLEAN

I have multiple baseballs, with Auto's on them. Some are team autos, while others are just one signature. However, I am asking, not for the storage of these balls, and keeping them safe. Rather, is there a way to make them not fade (some are sharpy, others pen), on the leather of a ball/baseball? I have heard hair spray, but I am not for sure. Any suggestions? Thanks so much. I am new and VERY happy here, MD Sr.
