Condition of Envelope

Post by chris_dillon10 »

Is it important to keep the envelope in good condition? I've receibved some envelopes back with a few rips and tears in them, and the edges have gone quite flimsy so when I've opened it with a letter opener it tears bits off and stuff like that.

AFTER you've received it back with a signed photo from whoever you have written to?

Envelopes

Post by TheCollector »

Hi,

My advice is to try to get as thick envelopes as you can (without it affecting the postage costs too much). I bought some cheapo ones and several ended up coming back damaged, in a couple of cases the autographed photos were bent as well.

So it is just not worth going cheap! The thicker envelopes pay dividends!

I agree also with writing PLEASE DO NOT BEND on the outside of the return envelope. The postal service don't always listen, but I have found they often do take more care.

Better still, use those card-backed envelopes for getting your really important autos. It really bumps the postage up, but if you are holding out for that really special signature, it is worth the extra cost!

Cheers {up}
Ian
