Hi!

We are a little surprised because last Monday, we received an autograph from Johnny Depp.
We wrote him via The Tourist in Venice and we received one pic back signed and the other w/o signed.
Do you know if it is authentic? Thanks
We sent letter and SASE.

That ink color makes me think it's his usual Autopen ones. Do you have a close up scan of just the signature?? Where was the envelope postmarked from?

We compared with another AP success and the signature looks not equal...

That's the thing with ap, they can actually have subtle variations depending on how the user controls the paper. Also, some celebs use multiple ap machines. Where is it postmarked from?

The postmark is the only way you can get an accurate answer. If it was mailed from the city/area he was filming it may be real. if all his mail was forwarded to his agent then it was all Aped and sent back to the sender.

The signature does match his AP but his signature is also very simple and his IP are usually pretty similar. Look for start and stop points, if you see the dots it's ap. if there are no dots and a postmark from where he was filming you have an authentic. Usually the senders stuff comes bakc unsigned with his usual 8x10 they send, also if it was AP I don't see why they didn't do all 3 items?

I'm sorry but that is definitely an AP signature. I haven't seen an authentic TTM success in a couple years now. As was mentioned, APs can have subtle variations if the person controlling the paper moves it slightly. Also, postmark does not necessarily indicate authenticity, though it can often give you a clue.

I have received the same one 1 or 2 months ago. It's his usual AP. Looks like all the mail got forwarded to his US agency.
