Seventy-five years ago, Vernon Lingle was a 19-year-old steering one of about 2,700 flat-bottomed landing boats (LCI) that ferried soldiers to the shores of Omaha Beach, the first stretch of land that troops reached that infamous day.

Sent him 2 photos on 27 Jul and got them back signed on 9 Sep. He also sent a note saying that he stayed at Omaha Beach till Dec 1944 transporting men and supplies to the beach.. Then went to Anti Aircraft school and was sent to the Philippine Islands to prepare for the invasion of Japan..
