I live in the UK also. You do get responses, you just have to give it time. How long has it been since you sent out requests? They can take a year or more to get back to you so you just have to be patient. Also you have to make sure you help out with postage, I don't know if you're aware of this but you will need to send out either a SASE, or a SAE with IRC's or some money to give you the best chance at getting a response.

I usually sent out an IRC or two and a letter and sase, I also usually include my own pics for them to sign. I've sent to many different people numerous times, the last being Stan Lee in June.

Where you live doesn't really effect whether or not you get a response. It only mainly effects how long you wait. For your request to get there & for the responses to get back.
