		Re: Making Your Letter Stand Out?
As a collector and a fan, I don't see anything wrong with the fact that; the more effort I put into making my letter nice, the better the response I'm trying to get. Receiving an autograph is great, but receiving more than that (e.g a letter, cd) is extremely special and makes for an added thrill to this hobby. If I just wanted to tell a celeb how much I admire them I'd just send them a myspace message honestly..

That's not what I meant. I honestly didn't want to get into details but it seems I have no other choice: I agree that there's nothing wrong with putting extra effort into your letters but shouldn't that come naturally if you're a big fan? Also, writing your letters aren't supposed to become a habit because then you end up writing and sending the same to everyone. There's some people who look at what others write and send and then they do the same, celebrities will notice it and then you won't get a nicer response because everyone do the same! So yes, of course there's nothing wrong with putting effort into your letters (you're supposed to!), but sending the same thing to everyone will becom a habit and your letters won't stand out anymore...

I use different colour ink, and then draw a picture of a flying animal somewhere. I like to make people smile

Some celebs tend to love sketches - so if you can draw, you might want to sketch them and scan along a photo, and you might please them for a better success.

Honestly I write very basic, effortless letters when I'm absolutely sure that it will probably be chucked in the bin by the celeb's agent or manager.When I suspect that there's a good chance the celeb will see it, I put the effort in - to show first and foremost that I really admire them, but also at the same time to hint at the fact that I'm seeking more than just an autographed picture. I guess you could say that I'm more into 'personal-response-from-celeb' collecting than just autograph collectingLizanne wrote:I agree that there's nothing wrong with putting extra effort into your letters but shouldn't that come naturally if you're a big fan?
 . When I have children one day I want to show/give them the really unique successes I've received from the celebs I love. I hope you'll understand I'm not being confrontational, I've just recently found I'm more passionate in getting more than just the standard autograph back from a celebrity - I want to have successes no-one else has had or could recreate, and I find that a way to do this is making my letters stand out from the rest! {thumb2}

A point i would like to make is that you should check if the celeb is likely to do their fanmail personally before spending time on making it look nice and stuff. We should live up to the fact that most of the time, celebs dont rerad your letter AT ALL.

Exactly my point, why put effort into every letter when not every letter is going to actually go anywhere near the celeb? I've got better things to do with my time. And honestly, no-one can really convince me that they wouldn't like anything more than just an autograph back from a celebrity - we all wish that the person we've written to will send us something extra back!
