Re: Playbill Collectors
I just today thought it would be a great idea to collect Playbills and then saw this thread here! Do you have a list of theatres and their addresses? I was looking some up, but I am having troubles with the New York City zip codes. Seems like one street has more than one zip. Not sure if that is right. I just want to make sure I get my requests to where they should go. Thank you for any help.

Re: Playbill Collectors
I have a few playbills from shows that performed in Cincinnati, Oh. as part of the "Broadway Series" at the old Taft Theater. Most that I collected are unsigned. I was fortunate enough to be working for a security company and I got to be the one standing at the backstage entrance.
The playbills that I have unsigned are from...
City Of Angels, M. Butterfly, Meet Me In St. Louis, CATS, Les Miserables, Bye Bye Birdie, David Copperfield (The Magician) and a few other that don't spring to mind. I wish I had been more into musicals at the time as I could have easily had them all signed.
There is one playbill that I did get signed as I recognized the names of the people in the production. And that was the production called "Love Letters" which starred Robert Wagner and Stephanie Powers. Who wouldn't recognize Mr. & Mrs. Hart from "Hart To Hart"?? lol Nice people too. Robert was a little "stiff" but Stephanie was very free spirited and bubbly.
I was thinking about getting David Copperfield's autograph but after being around him for a day or so, I decided against it. He struck me as terribly self-centered and arrogant. It was my understanding that most of the local stage crew were ready to hang him by the end of his run because of his attitude.
And the highlight of my stint at the theater was meeting Barry Williams backstage one night. That's right folks, I shook Greg Brady's hand! lol

Some celeb's are funny that way.. I dunno. Barry was pretty cool and down to earth. Not at all snobbish. Kinda caught him off guard a little bit because as he approached me I said, "Good Evening, Mr. Williams. Can I help you?" And he kinda looked at me funny and kinda stammered, "Hi uhh... yeah.. I'm here to see so-n-so. She's in the cast." I explained that due to a little difficulty the show was running a few minutes long and that the cast member should appear shortly. He asked if it was ok to hang around the stage door area and I told him it was fine. I handed him a Security Pass which he clipped to his shirt and he stayed there and chatted with me about different things for about 15 minutes. I was careful to avoid anything about the Brady Bunch as I figured he's probably quite tired of hearing about it. lol Finally the cast member appeared that he was waiting for and boy was she beautiful! Built like a brick shipyard she was. I dunno who she was, if she was his date, a relative or what, but she was a looker. He handed the pass back to me, shook my hand and said, "Nice chatting with you, Take Care." and he and she disappeared into the Cincy night. Pretty nice guy.

Re: Playbill Collectors
I'm hoping to write to Kristin Chenoweth via Promises Promises. I am going to be sending her 2 photo's possibly 3. I would really like a signed playbill as well, but I'm not sure whether it would be right to ask her outright, or maybe send a seperate request. Although whether I will have the stamps I ordered by that time I'm not sure.
Would it be rude to ask for a playbill as well do you think?
It's strange as I was only thinking the other day that it's a shame Promises, Promises has not been revived and there it was on Playbill.com.

I think 2 photos is the maximum you should send. You can send a separate request to the stage manager requesting a cast signed playbill -- so as to not bombard her with requests.

Re: Playbill Collectors
I disagree - send TWO photos only, and request a playbill. She will decide if it's OK or not!arrowsup wrote:Johnny's Fan wrote:I'm hoping to write to Kristin Chenoweth via Promises Promises. Don't send for a cast playbill if you only want one persons signature - save them for the people who like the whole cast, who have seen the show, or know people in the show!
WONDERLAND:Alice's New Musical Adventure enjoyed a short, but sweet run on Broadway in Spring of 2011!
