1. Im in the US, and I was wondering; how many stamps I would need on a 6x9 envelope to send to the UK?
2. Which is better to include for reply postage? IRCs or cash? Or is there some way to buy British stamps in America?
3. Also, do I need to write "air mail" on my envelope? I have seen others do it, but doesn't all mail to the UK from the US travel via air mail?
Any reply is greatly appreciated. I'm new at this!

DO NOT, whatever you do, send IRC to UK. Our post service's rarely accept them, and you cannot buy them in the UK anymore, so its advised to try and get British stamps somehow! I have a friend on Twitter who sent IRC to the UK and she recieved her entire letter back, in her SAE, with the words "CANNOT ACCEPT IRC. ADDRESSEE WILL PAY POSTAGE" on the front... its rubbish!

so if I were you, I'd try and get British stamps
as for the other questions, I dont know, sorry, but good luck

Yes you do need to write Air Mail, because mail from the UK to the US can also travel via Surface Mail which is cheaper but far slower

I just calculated the price on usps.com ... It would cost $1.75 for a large (6x9) envelope to the U.K. Weighing up to 1 ounce.

Also, The US Post Office Sells $1.05 stamps, which are air-mail stamps Stick on 2 and you should be good.
