Firstly, the guy has a reputation for going off on one - he is notorious, after all, for stopping during the performance of a play to harangue someone whose mobile phone went off.

Secondly, why should he be expected to pay postage and supply photos?

Thirdly, once one has experienced the utter misery of queuing up in the vast majority of British post offices (I used to run a mail order business, there were only two - Limehurst Square in Northampton - happily still going strong, and one in Hastings - now sadly closed - which were a pure delight to use) it is difficult to imagine what an abjectly depressing experience it can be. The main post offices are ridiculously busy at almost all times, it can easily take half an hour or longer at lunchtimes, the small ones tend to have at least one member of staff who doesn't know what a second class stamp is, let alone what to do with an international reply coupon.

Fourthly, if I received a note like - once I'd got over the initial shock - I would treasure it more than the autograph itself. It's so VERY him!

He's cursed at me before in a letter (said my - uh, 3 page - letter was BS) when I supplied American money instead of a SASE...didn't have the means for one at the time. If sent through an agency I daresay he could find someone to do this for him...I guess we don't know what it's like to be a celeb but I was really offended as I had seen him live in NYC and thought he was brilliant. Oh well I guess, have his auto and have never thought to sell it as true fans never would.

Well ... Once past the shock of receiving something like this ... to me at least I get to think it's a very Vernon Dursley Lol response.

Maybe we should start a new stage in this hobby and the challenge should be the one who receives the most rude answer your favorite actor Lol.

and received my photo back signed with a "Merry Christmas "he paid the post
I explained how difficult it was an SASE, and dollars ...

Congrats!! and I agree with him 100%!!! The least fans can do is provide the items for him to sign and SASE with attached postage. He probably got tired of people asking for signed photos, expecting him to pay for the return postage then ends up seeing the same photo on Ebay.

I try and make it as easy as possible for them to reply to my request.
