What does autopen mean?

An autopen is a machine where the celebrity signs their name and the machine memorizes it. There is a pen with the machine which then is put to photograph and the star's signature is duplicated. So you are getting their real autograph as they sign it, but they did not personally sign it. If you compare your two photos the "Best Wishes Robert Downey Jr" are exactly the same.
