I know he requests like a $10 donation but I haven't tried it out.fox15 wrote:I want to send him a bat and i was wandering if i have to send an sase?
Re: Monte Irvin?
Your joking right?
You are going to send Monte Irvin a bat without providing return postage?
Really? I suppose that you are not going to send him his required donation either?
It is $25 for a bat. Another post on this site has the details on the cost for other items and you can check to make sure I am correct.
I strongly suggest that you take your bat to the post office or UPS and find out what the return postage is going to be and send it with your bat.

The dude is 93 years old, why should he have to take your bat to the post office and figure out the postage. If you do it right, he can reuse the box you sent the bat in and apply your return label. The post office, Kinkos, UPS can get you the right box to mail the bat.
Make a return label out of a 3x5 and put the postage on it. Give instruction on taping the 3 x5 label to the box. This should all be in the letter of request(LOR). Put the label, the LOR and the $25 in a envelope that goes inside the box with the bat.
Remember, you are asking him to do something for you, he donates the money to Lincoln University.
To answer your question, no. It is your responsiblity to mail the bat to him correctly so that he does not have to do anything special. If you want him to do something else then you should ask his permission first. The $5 might not cover his cost of getting to the post office.
Don't be irresponsible pay for the return postage.
