It would depend why I was sending out the request. If I just wanted to get mail, or just want to add it it to my collection then I would type it, possibly use a template. If I have a strong desire to receive a reply then I hand write the letter, VERY carefully. I've been told NOT to hand write by my celebrity penpal... No one can read it.

I personally beleive that handwritten letters work the best, it shows effort and thought.

I personally type my letters, only because if I hand wrote them, they wouldn't been able to read them as my hand writing is rubbish.
I do however add a drawing to the bottom of the letter, I have been putting the drawing below at the bottom as this is the only one I have had chance to colour in on photoshop. I am going to for the rest that I am sending out to print the letter of then draw onto the letter...

Hand written foresure is better because it shows your character and it means you took the time to sit down and write a personal letter by hand written just for that person,i just found some sweet writing paper im trying out this week,i usually use coloured lined paper to keep it straight but i found this writing paper that looks like a scroll & a old map and i think its pretty cool...I always try to make it so the person i am sending to has a nice experience reading my letter,it should be fun and creative for them because they get alot of the same old boring letters im sure.I am always working on trying to make my requests better and more stimulating or amusing for the person i send to.Here is pics of the paper i just got:


I usually write a full page letter,but with this new paper i usually have to go a page and a half to 2 pages.

I just started, so I don't have any stats to know which one works better. But my first requests I typed. They were fairly plain looking letters, but I made sure each one was very personal and not just a copy and paste job for every person I sent to. I made a simple letterhead with grey lines in the body, so I've been handwriting my letters on that.

Someone said on this forum to think about what you would rather get -- a typed letter or a handwritten letter. And it's so true that a handwritten letter makes everything much more personal, and definitely shows the time you put into it.

I still type the letters first, to make sure everything is in there I want to say, spelling is correct, etc. Then I write it on the stationary I made.

I keep my letters to a little over a half page to a full page. I don't go on the back, because my handwriting is pretty small as it is, and I don't want the person to feel overwhelmed to see two sides (since they might have lots of letters to read).

Like I said, I can't tell you what works better, because I just sent my typed requests out two weeks ago.

This has been brought up several times and each member has their own opinion on it. Me personally I handwrite ALL my requests. And I'm talking a 8x11 peice of paper and filling in both sides of it. I send out small Q&A cards and ask the celeb which the prefer better, Handwritten or typed and all the ones I've gotten back 'cept one have said Handwritten.

and the reason why is they show more character and the celeb knows you took the time to actually sit down and write them a letter instead of using a form letter on your computer and just copy/pasting name and titles into one of those.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of letters do you usually send to celebs? Handwritten or typed, or maybe special stationery?
