Actually, to send from Chicago internationally, the post office adds 25 cents onto the IRC, then they postmark it. The cost of IRC's in the US has gone up since IRC prices were last updated.

FACULTATIVE = NOT REQUIRED

Should be self-explanatory.

Ciao, visto che sei Italiano ti risponderò nella nostra lingua :D
In poche parole vuol dire che non è obbligatorio apporre il timbro del paese d'origine sul buono.
Spero che si tratti di quel che volevi saper :mrgreen:
Buon Week-End

Once I was asking the same question and someone told me that in USA it's not really important if IRC has a stamp or not. I think this gives a value to cupon but in some countries they don't care about it. I had some unstamped IRC and sent them, the only problem is that I can't remeber anymore who I sent them to so I can't tell you if I got a replay or not. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If you want to check the topic I was asking about this you can check it HERE.
Hope I helped ;)

hi Elleny,

Normally when you buy a IRC, the post office will put a chop on it. The reciever cannot get any stamps without it. I don't know if it's different from place to place. But you don't have to worry, since your IRC are not stamped, which means the reciever can reuse it later on :D

Stamp on the IRCs

by Elleny » Sun Apr 05, 2009 11:38 am

Hey guys I have a little question about IRCs.
Is the stamp to put where it says "empreime de controle du pais d'origine (facultativo)" binding? You can say what I mean in this picture, on the left: http://www.upu.int/irc/irc-2006_front.jpg

When I bought some IRCs the man at the postal office didnt put a stamp on it because he said that they are no longer valid with it.

I'm counfused because I sent my fanmail with those IRCs without the stamps but I dont know if they are ok without them.

I hope you can help me {up}

Sorry for my bad english :(
